Online research (CAWI)

Online research or Computer-Assisted Web Interviewing (CAWI) is a cost-effective quantitative methodology

Using a CAWI research methodology is often the most cost effective way of conducting quantitative research.

There are also a number of other advantages to the approach, including:

  • It is faster and more convenient for respondents to complete
  • Questionnaires can be designed to improve answer rates and aid respondent understanding
  • Automatic routing means only relevant questions are served based on a respondent’s previous answers
  • Images and videos can be included for evaluation.

Depending on the nature your requirements, there are also a number of disadvantages to consider. Firstly, not everyone has internet access or is internet savvy. Lower response rates require larger sample sizes, and open text questions don’t often give the same level of insight as follow-up questioning during a telephone interview.

Fineline has considerable experience in using CAWI for clients to deliver excellent results. We have also invested heavily in the latest scripting software to deliver excellent respondent experiences. This coupled with gamification maximises participation and reduces respondent dropout.
